Topological Coupling of Dislocations and Mag- Netization Vorticity in Spin Density Waves
The rich order parameter of Spin Density Waves allows for an unusual object of a complex topological nature: a half-integer dislocation combined with a semi-vortex of the staggered magnetization. It becomes energetically preferable to ordinary dislocation due to enhanced Coulomb interactions in the semiconducting regime. Generation of these objects changes the narrow band noise frequency.
متن کاملTopological Dislocations and Mixed State of Charge Density Waves.
We discuss the possibility of the “mixed state” in incommensurate charge density waves with threedimensional order. The mixed state is created by applying an electric field perpendicular to the chains. This state consists of topological dislocations induced by the external field and is therefore similar to the mixed states of superfluids (type-II superconductors or liquid helium II). However, t...

متن کاملCurrent driven magnetization dynamics in helical spin density waves.
A mechanism is proposed for manipulating the magnetic state of a helical spin density wave using a current. It is shown that a current through a bulk metal with a helical spin density wave induces a spin transfer torque, which gives rise to a rotation of the order parameter. The use of spin transfer torque to manipulate the magnetization in bulk systems does not suffer from the obstacles seen f...
متن کاملCoupling of spin waves with charge- and spin-density excitations in spin-polarized quantum wells
The coupling of spin waves with chargeand spin-density waves is shown to be induced by a spin-dependent interaction in a quantum well, which is spin polarized by a dc magnetic field at an angle u to the symmetry axis. The mixing of the plasmonic and magnonic modes, which occurs for both intraand intersubband transitions, depends on the coupling constant of the spin-spin interaction, the tilt an...
